"Shippers Raise World Trade Concerns Over U.S. Law For 100% Scanning of Containers"
Members of the Global Shippers Forum (GSF) today voiced grave concerns regarding the cargo scanning mandates set forth in a new U.S. security law that was signed late last week by President George W. Bush. Known as, “Implementing Recommendations of the 9/11 Commission Act of 2007” the law mandates new security requirements on all aspects of freight transport including the “scanning” of all air cargo carried aboard commercial aircraft within three years, and all maritime containers destined for the U.S. at foreign ports after five years.
